Ferndale Trim & Doors was challenged by Habitat for Humanity Restore to participate in the 2018 Upcycle Challenge, as part of the Barrie Fall Home Show!

This challenge asked designers in the Barrie area to choose one product from the Restore and upcycle it into a brand new piece. Ferndale created two pieces for this charitable event.

The first piece was made from an old TV stand and assorted pieces of hardwood. Through some staining and the addition of a wine rack system and a small display shelf made of barn wood, this TV stand was transformed into a gorgeous, dark-wood bar.

The second piece, in collaboration with The Chilton Team, saw a classic dresser altered into a Dr. Seuss styled children’s dresser and bookcase duo. Bright-coloured spray paint and curved lines completed this whimsical piece.

Habitat for Humanity Restore showcased these and other products in the 2018 Barrie Fall Home Show. You can see the results in this video below! Check out 0:22-0:33 for the “Whoville” dresser, and 1:40-2:27 for the bar.
